Gopal Rao, the temple’s construction supervisor, could also be removed from his post.

On Friday, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) conducted a six-hour investigation at the temple premises. The team questioned Champat Rai, Anil Mishra, and Gopal Rao separately. They also questioned the SBI bank manager and cashier.

The SIT also sought to question Gopal Rao’s nephew and temple employee, Somesh Anand, but he remains unavailable with his phone switched off.

So far, ₹2 crore has been recovered in connection with the donation theft based on information provided by five individuals: Lavkush, Avnish, Anukalp, Karune, and Ramshankar alias Tinnu — all of whom were responsible for counting the temple donations. Gold was recovered from the residence of a temple trust employee, Tinnu, on June 13. However, the exact quantity of gold has not been officially confirmed.
